Suzan talked with Brat over phone and as she finished, she quickly headed for the door. Daniel was still puzzled and lazily just followed her.

"Come on ... we need to go immediately." Suzan said.

"Where? " Daniel asked, he grabbed the chance to ask her, which he had not got since so long.

"To catch her. " Suzan said, coming out of the house.

"Where has she gone?" Daniel asked.

" I don’t know..? Just follow me." Suzan said in irritation.

" Then where are we going?" He asked with equal irritation.

" You just come with me... we don't have time right now.. I will tell you everything on the way" Suzan said, trying to be as calm as possible. Both of them walked off.

A car was running on the road with full speed. From the side window it was visible that Stella was driving the car. On a turn she applied breaks with full force and took a right turn sharply. A police jeep was following Stella's car. Stella was either unaware of the fact or she did not have time to look behind.

Stella's car was running with full speed when a lady abruptly stopped in the middle of the road while crossing the road. In fact she was confused and did not know what to do next when she saw a car speedily approaching her. Stella did not have a choice other than to apply breaks, as fast and with maximum force as possible. The brakes made a shrieking sound and the car came to halt, right in front of the lady. As the car came to halt, the lady who was frozen like an ice started running. Stella was panting like anything; got relieved seeing the lady was safe. She cleared the sweat beads came on her forehead and proceeded further.

The police car was right behind hers, keeping a safe distance. Probably they didn't want to be known by her that she was been chased.

Brat's jeep was also rushing speedily. Continuously he was in contact with the police jeep chasing Stella. Suddenly his wireless beeped. He got a message from patrolling jeep, " Sir we are right behind her..."

“Good... Don’t let her go out of your site... I will join you shortly... “Brat replied.

After leaving behind city, Stella’s car traveled for quite a distance and turned to right on a dusty road. Clouds of dust came up. As the patrolling police chasing her found Stella's car turning right, they slowed down their jeep. They waited for her car to go ahead, so that she should not realize her chasing up.

Suzan's car was also rushing speedily on the city roads. Daniel was driving the car and Suzan was instructing him the way. Suzan dialed a number on her cell phone, " We are also on the way..."

"You... Don’t have to worry ...our team is right behind her..." Brat assured them.

"Where is she? ... And, where are you?" Suzan asked.

"I am almost to join my team ... I am right now at... " Brat peeked outside the window to tell her the exact location.

The police patrolling jeep followed Stella's car on the dusty road. A police staff from the jeep informed Brat on wireless, " Sir, it seems she is going into woods."

" Just keep on following her..." Brat instructed.

" Yes sir"

Daniel was driving the car and was waiting for next instruction from Suzan. She was still on mobile. Suzan finished her talk on mobile and instructed him "Take left turn on the next signal"

Boss and other Police were standing in front of the TV and were watching the news of the riots spread all over America. Phone was ringing in between, which was duly attended by the lady police staff sitting near the phone. Boss switched the news channel, to find the news of the same thing. Every news channel was over flooded with the news regarding the riots going on all over America.
Suddenly John came in with rage, Sam looked at him sympathetically. Boss just ignored him and the others were pretending to be busy in their work. John did not like the way Boss ignored him.

 Loosing almost his control he outburst, “ Sir if we could not stop the fifth murder... the people now involved in riots would go wild ... and then it would be almost impossible to control them...”

Boss looked at him, pondered over, and said looking at Sam, “ Sam I think he is right... You go with him taking two more police and see if we can do something”

Boss turned to John, “ I am sorry John, this much I can do”

John sensed the sarcasm in his words, as he was without uniform and without powers.

John was about to snap back when Boss said, “ Because the arson has already started at the Canaught place... I would need people there also... And many places the riots can start’’

Still John was to say something when there was a call for Boss.

Before attending the phone he said, “ Come on…. go quickly, don’t waste your time”

John and Sam rushed out.

Sam sat across his boss and was briefing him about the case. Boss had handed over the complete charge of John to him. As usual Boss sat relaxed in the chair, taking cigar puffs and listening to him.

A peon came in and placed a slip in front of boss, “ Sir, John sir has come”

“ John sir” Boss said sarcastically, giving unusual weight on the word ‘Sir’

Boss opened the slip, ‘ Needs to talk to you very urgently, got some important information regarding the serial killer case’ he read the slip.

He again went over the words written in the slip and slipped it to Sam, “When

he had the opportunity, he could not do anything,... What the hell he is going to do now?”

Sam also went through the slip.

Suddenly Boss sat right on the chair and ordered the peon, “ Send him in”

Peon went out and John came in.

“ Hello John how are you?” Boss gestured him to sit across.

John sat, without acknowledging anything.

“ Hello John”

“ Hello Sam”

The awkward exchange took place between John and Sam.

“ Yes.. What can we do for you?” Boss asked as if John was never a member of his department.

“ Sir, I have an important information regarding next possible murder”

“ But as all know.. you are now dismissed”

John kept quiet.

“ Then why should you share the information with us?”

“ Look... the information I had has nothing to do with your crazy departmental politics.. It’s the question of people’s life and death... Had I been able to do something alone with the help of this information, I would never have turned up"

Rage could be clearly sensed from John's words.

" This is the typical example of - 'The rope burns but the twists never go'" Boss said, stubbing the cigar in the ash tray kept in front of him.

" Anyway what information you have? " Boss asked.

" The information I have, leads us to the next possible victim " John said.

Sam was quietly looking alternatively at their faces.

Suddenly Boss laughed loudly, "Possible victim"

" Sir this is not some kind of joke"

Boss stopped laughing, " Look... there are around seventy five thousand houses in this city... An idiot is sufficient to tell us that the next victim will be resident of one of those houses... "

" Next victim's name will start with an alphabet 'Y' "

Boss again laughed loudly, " Is this some kind of word puzzle"

Sam who was quiet till this time, gathered courage to intervene, " Sir I think... we should listen to him thoroughly what he wants to say"

It was evident from Boss's face that he did not like Sam intervening, " Oh I am so sorry... Really I forgot that this case is being handled by you now.." Boss said sarcastically.

" Sir ... I mean ... I just suggested... "

Boss suddenly went in serious mood. The whole cabin became calm and quiet. Boss lit new cigar, relaxed in the chair and said, " OK then call the meeting"

Ch 9B- First Mistake (Novel-Zero)

Command1 reached the phone kept in the corner, after finishing his 'bloody' writing on the wall. He removed an instrument from his overcoat pocket, dialed the phone number and started to speak in the phone through the instrument, “One more victim... Huyana Philikins ... merged into zero (void)''

Before the response came from the other side, probably police station, Command1 disconnected. As soon as he kept the phone back, his attention was caught by something odd in his hand.

“ My God” fearful astonished words came out.

“ What’s wrong?” Command2 enquired looking at his hand.

It didn’t take much time for Command2 to realize what was wrong. Hand glove worn in Command1’s right hand was torn, probably it was when he was about to fall earlier in the hall.

“My finger prints would have been left everywhere.... we should clear them off, before police comes” Command1 said removing the kerchief from his pocket.

“They might not be much... we can finish up our job before the police comes” Command2 also joined him with his own kerchief.

Both of them were acting swiftly, clearing most of the probable places in the room, bulb switch, the table kept aside, bed corners.
When they were sure that there would not be any fingerprints left in the bedroom, they went in the hall. There they cleaned tea table, door handle, part of floor, wherever there was a possibility, they cleaned everywhere. Suddenly they heard police jeep siren. Now they understood, they had to rush. They entered the bedroom and took a last look around. As the siren was approaching near, they darted to the front door, opened the door, looked around and escaped...

Suddenly Command1 got up from the chair, coming out of his thoughts.

“ What’s wrong?” Command2 asked.

“ We made a big mistake!” Command1 said, his whisky mood seemed to be totally ruined.

“My finger prints are left there” he continued.

“ But we cleared all the places” Command2 said.

“ We forgot one place”

“Which one?”

Till now Command1 also stood up.

“You must be remembering... when I was about to fall in the hall... there was a paper weight kept on a table, which was rolling down... I picked it up and kept back to its previous location” Command1 said.

“My God!... we forgot to clean it up”

Command1 was absorbed in his thoughts.

“Now what should we do?” Command2 asked, not sure about the next step.

Command1 didn’t reply. He went to the window. Though he was looking outside, yet was probably busy checking all possibilities in his restless mind. Command2, unsure of their next actions, was observing Command1’s restless movements, trying to get what is going on at the back of his mind.
Suddenly Command1 came back to the place, where he was sitting before, filled the glass kept on table, till it overflowed, and finished it up in a single big swig. Again he returned to the window and got involved into his thoughts.

Command1 stood motionless for a while and suddenly hooted, “Yes!”, as if he found the solution.

“ Did you get some way out?” Command1 asked with a cheerful face.

But Command1 was not in a mood to disclose it now, he signaled Command2, “Come on... Come with me.. quick”

Command1 rushed outside the house, Command2 just followed him with confusion.
